What Is Vaginoplasty?

Who Is a Good Candidate for Vaginoplasty?
Women who are in otherwise good general health and have been cleared for restorative procedures are excellent candidates for vaginoplasty surgery. This type of cosmetic surgery is also beneficial for women who went through menopause and are looking for ways to improve or enhance their sexual experiences. Tightening of the vaginal walls is a procedure often suggested for women who have had difficult childbirths or numerous vaginal procedures.
How Long Does It Take to Heal After This Type of Procedure?
The length of time it takes for a woman to heal after a vaginoplasty procedure will depend on several things. The main factor is the woman’s general health prior to the surgery. Secondly, difficulty of the procedure will also play a role. Women who have extensive reconstructive surgery may have a healing time of four to six weeks. Others will minor restorative procedures could heal within a week. This will involve restricting sexual activity and strict adherence to the doctor’s orders. Patients who do not follow orders can increase their risk of infection and also extend their healing time.
